> Import a phone number you own on Plivo into Vio with your Auth ID and Auth Token, so your agent answers it, then enable outbound so Vio can dial from it.
# Connect your Plivo numbers
**If you already own a number on Plivo, you can import it into Vio with your Plivo Auth ID and Auth Token. Inbound calls reach your agent as soon as it is imported, and one click enables outbound so Vio can place calls from it too.** The number stays in your Plivo account and Plivo bills you for its minutes, as it does today.
## What you need
- A **Plivo account** with at least one voice-enabled phone number in it.
- Your **Auth ID** and **Auth Token**. In the [Plivo console](https://console.plivo.com), open **Overview**: both are shown on that page. The Auth ID starts with `MA` or `SA`.
**Use the account that owns the number.** Vio checks that the number belongs to the account whose credentials you enter, and refuses the import if it does not. If your numbers live in a Plivo sub-account, enter that sub-account's Auth ID and Auth Token.
## Import a number
### Open the Numbers view
Select **Numbers** in the sidebar, then choose **Import Plivo**.
### Enter the number and your credentials
Fill in the number in international format (for example `+14155550100`), your **Auth ID**, your **Auth Token** and, if you like, a label you will recognise later. Then import.
### Assign the agent that answers
On the number, pick the agent that should answer inbound calls. Leave it unassigned and your workspace's **default agent** answers. See [**Phone numbers**](/vio/telephony/numbers#assigned-agent-vs-default-agent).
### Call it
Dial the number from any phone. Your agent picks up, and the call appears in [**Call logs**](/vio/call-logs).
## What Vio sets up in your Plivo account
Vio makes a small number of changes in your Plivo account so calls can reach your agent. You can see each one in the Plivo console.
| When | What Vio creates or changes |
|---|---|
| **You import a number** | An **Application** named `vio-` (for example `vio-+14155550100`), linked to that number. Calls to the number go to that application, and the application sends them to Vio. |
| **You enable outbound** | A **Zentrunk outbound trunk** and a **SIP credential** for it. Vio places calls from your numbers through that trunk. |
| **You release the number in Vio** | The number is **unlinked** from its `vio-` application, and the application is **deleted**. The number itself stays in your Plivo account. |
**Don't edit or delete the `vio-` application, and don't link the number to another application, while the number is in Vio.** Either change stops calls reaching your agent. To stop using a number with Vio, release it from the Numbers view instead.
## Enable outbound
Inbound works as soon as the number is imported. To let Vio place calls from it, for an [**outbound campaign**](/vio/telephony/outbound-campaigns) or an agent-scheduled [**callback**](/vio/telephony/callbacks), select the number and choose **Enable outbound (Plivo)**.
That creates the outbound trunk described above, once for your Plivo account, and switches on outbound for your imported Plivo numbers. Outbound calls are billed by Plivo to your Plivo account at its outbound rates.
## Frequently asked
**Q. Who bills me for the phone minutes?**
Plivo, directly, as today. Vio charges its own per-minute usage from your [wallet](/vio/pricing).
**Q. Can I import numbers from both Twilio and Plivo?**
Yes. Each number keeps working through the account it was imported from. See [**Phone numbers**](/vio/telephony/numbers#import-a-twilio-number) for Twilio.
**Q. I changed my Plivo Auth Token. What now?**
Calls stop reaching your agent until Vio has the new token, because Vio uses it to confirm each call really came from your account. In **Numbers → Import Plivo**, import the same number again with the new Auth Token, and Vio replaces the one it stored.
**Q. What happens to the number if I release it?**
It stays in your Plivo account. Vio only removes the `vio-` application it created and stops answering the number.
## Next step
With a number assigned, place a test call from [**Test your agent**](/vio/getting-started/test-your-agent), then watch it appear in [**Call logs**](/vio/call-logs).
